 Morfik to sue Google?

  • May 30th, 2006
  • 6:09 pm

I just received a press release from Morfik.

This adds more to the speculation around Google’s GWT.

More on Morfik here.

UPDATE: Richard MacManus at ZDNet has more coverage on this announcement.

Morfik Will Pursue all Avenues to Protect its IP Rights
Recent recognition of the value of mapping a high-level language to JavaScript by key stalwarts of the AJAX world has confirmed the viability and strategic importance of Morfik Technology Pty Ltd’s many years of pioneering work in this area. Morfik’s vision of “browser as computing platform” embodied by its JavaScript Synthesis Technology, “JST” (Patent Pending) is now gaining mainstream acceptance.

“Morfik believes in this paradigm and has invested millions of dollars over the course of many man-years in developing this technology.” said Aram Mirkazemi, co-founder and CEO of Morfik.

“For some time now, Morfik has been recognized both in the industry and in the press for having conceived of and developed something that is truly inspirational. Morfik has been working on this technology for a long time. We are helping Morfik in pursuing all appropriate forms of intellectual property protection in connection with this technology
and invention.” said Tim Hale of Russo & Hale LLP of Palo Alto, California, one of Morfik’s intellectual property attorneys.

Some time ago Morfik’s founders identified JavaScript as the limiting factor in the development of complex interactive Web-based software applications and decided to develop some proof-of-concept prototypes for the translation of a high-level language to JavaScript. The success of the proof-of-concept resulted in the establishment of Morfik as a
company in the year 2000 and the further development of JST. JST allows developers to use a high-level language of choice and have it compiled directly and seamlessly to JavaScript. Morfik spent the ensuing years building a state-of-the-art Rapid Application Development tool to make JST accessible to small businesses.

In October 2005 Morfik’s JST was featured at the Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco, California and immediately attracted the attention of leading search engine providers and software development organizations, including founders and top officers from some very large companies. In a number of instances, persons recognizing the potential in the JST innovation and its implications for their own organization’s applications requested special more detailed presentations to their engineers or gained access to additional confidential information about JST.

Morfik as the owner of this ground-breaking innovation and technology is committed to protecting all of its rights, working closely with interested organizations to share its learning and innovations related to JST and to enter into appropriate licensing arrangements with such organizations to govern their use of JST.

 Wridea - Idea Notepad

  • May 28th, 2006
  • 8:54 pm

Wridea is a free application that allows you to collect and organize your ideas.

Your ideas are organized into categories and pages.

I see a great opportunity to organize your ideas by tag so that an idea could easily exist in more than one category. Additionally being able to share your ideas/pages with other users could be handy as well.

The application has a nice simplicity and makes it convenient to loosely organize your notes and ideas. Go check it out.

 Bubbleshare gets a major upgrade

  • May 27th, 2006
  • 11:32 am

Albert over at Bubbleshare recently announced a bunch of new features.

* Improved navigation system: All your own albums, received and bookmarked are now under main tab ‘my album’

* New visual design: Checkout the new visual design for a list of albums. We think it is much better!

* Search: Finally you can search through your photos and albums as well as any album on the community. Search will search through captions and bubble captions.

* Tags: Now you can tag your photos or your albums! Tags are a great way to organize your photos. Simply add a tag to an album (on overview tab) and it will be applied to every photo in that album. Also tag individual photos in ‘photo view’. We are aware there is about a 10 minute delay before your tags are searchable. We hope to address this in the next few weeks.

* Printing: Now you can order prints and gifts from our partner Qoop. Simply click ‘Prints and Gifts’ on any album

* Vertical Slider (Flash): Checkout our new flash integration tool. Now you can add your album onto the side of any website or blog and it will be displayed in a cool vertical slider mode (in one of 3 sizes). This requires your visitors have flash 7 or 8 installed (most do)

* Contact Manager:Now we remember the email address of anyone you send an Album to. Next time you share an Album you can quickly and easily select their email address from a list just to make your life a bit easier. We are working on a full-featured contact manager in the future.

* BubbleShare Sync for Mac: Sync photos to desktop to include in your screensaver.

 EXCLUSIVE: Ookles Screenshots

  • May 23rd, 2006
  • 8:03 pm

I was chatting with Scott Johnson of Ookles the other day about tagging concepts… which reminds me I should do a blog rant on that topic.

I managed to get a peek at Ookles and I have the first screenshots to hit the Internet of his new photo sharing service. I hope to break more details as soon as I get an account to play with.
