Web 2.0 Central » Upcoming sold to Yahoo!

Yahoo! once again is making a smart Web 2.0 acquisition.

Yahoo just announced the acquisition of Upcoming.org which I profiled here a while back. Upcoming has been a great resource and now with a little Yahooapital, I’m sure we’ll see many more great things.

My #1 feature request for Upcoming is to syndicate events from other sources to compliment the user generated events. Get me all the Edmonton Oilers hockey games in the feed pulled from Ticketmaster and that will be great!

Hey, I just stumbled over Lovento.com, which is an awesome Web 2.0 style event calendaring tool and really worth looking at. Offers XML-feeds, trackbacks, a great rating system.

Yes!

Kudos to Paul, Andy, Gordon, Leonard and the rest who made this deal happen - Upcoming.org has been a great additional tool for us to help our clients reach localized online “event-goers” and groupings!

Much Respect,
