Laszlo is the developer behind Open Laszlo which allows for creating web based applications in Flash.

I’ve experimented with creating applications with Laszlo in the past, as well as previously creating a flash based application from scratch for Talvae. Laszlo is pretty impressive but needs a visual development environment to make it easier. Writing everything in XML is a bit of a challenge.

The concept behind Laszlo is that it can be compiled into other languages other than flash, so it’s not inconceivable that it could compile out to an AJAX application ala Morfik.

Hey, Robert Scoble Adobe bought flash, is Microsoft buying Laszlo? Perhaps a little too open source for Microsoft?

Laszlo has a visual development environment via the Laszlo plugin for Eclipse.
