The unique twist is the files are served from your machine. This saves the hassles of uploading the files and allows them to be delivered at full fidelity. Additionally, users can choose for the files to be public or private to share those special memories with just their friends and families.

As your machine is the one serving up the media, If your machine is offline so is your media. An upcoming update will remove that limitation by subscribing to a hosting package. Additionally if your media gets popular, PiXPO caches the media and delivers it so your home machine doesn’t come to a screeching halt.

In May they raised a $6.5 MM Series A financing round lead by Madrona, with participation from GrowthWorks, Yaletown Venture Partners, Springbank TechVentures.
