Debbie Landa and Alison Murdock and the rest of the Under the Radar team put on a fantastic event yesterday.
With 32 companies presenting, it was fantastic to feel the energy and buzz around what’s happing in the Web 2.0 space.
I did some roving podcasts from the floor of the conference, thanks to Geoffrey Grosenbach for supplying the gear and for doing the editing on the audio. I’ll be linking to the podcasts soon.
It was great putting a face to the names and companies I’ve read and reported on. My backlog of companies I want to post about just skyrocketed.
I got a chance to meet Mr. Jay Budzik of Intellext (great company name but for some reason I can’t pronounce it).
Intellext produces a product Watson, that is a sidebar that provides relavent search engine results beside whatever document you are working on in real time. Working on a word document writing a report? In the sidebar will be search results relating to that content. Very cool!
Bubbleshare is basically a super easy photo sharing service, Albert Lai calls it Flickr for Moms. Lots of cool Ajax and a bunch of new features and business models that he wasn’t ready to talk about. Definitely a company to watch.
Dabble DB was presenting and got a TON of buzz. Everyone I talked with that saw their product was blown away by the huge leap they’ve made in making building an online, shared database easy.
Loomia offers a very nice recommendation service. By simply inserting a bit of HTML code into your site, you can have Loomia show you visitors personal recommendations of which of your content they will be interested in.
Simply Hired has built an incredible tool for people doing job search. They started with a fun video about why job search sucks, that had the audience laughing. Their product is a fantastic ‘job mashup’ that combines data from an array of sources making it much easier to search for jobs.
Riya also had a ton of buzz at the show. Their product is really quite polished and if it works as well as it demos I think they will do quite well.
Look for part 2 coming soon.

Thanks for the kind comments!
Its good to see a fellow Canadian out here in the valley!
