Scott Johnson formerly of Feedster is working on a new startup Ookles. No word on what it’s up to yet but they do have a standard stealth mode signup.
I had an IM conversation with Scott and he didn’t help much.
via: The Life and Times of SoozReg Cheramy - What’s the 10 word idea of what Ookles is all about?
Scott Johnson - I’m not saying at present but its not tagging although tags are used and its not search although it has a search function.
Scott Johnson - You’ll see a number of things from me in the the forthcoming months and its going to look like massive thrashing and confusion and its not. There’s actually a strategy.

[…] My expectation is that like Feedster I’m going to need to build it before funding so since it was apparent it was time for me to leave Feedster we’ve been planning, doing research, picking technologies, finding an advisor, setting up infrastructure. Given that until last Thursday Feedster owned all my IP we didn’t write line 1 of code. Actually that’s not true - Mike wrote the sign up page and I desperately wanted to help but I held back. This is too large an opportunity to not do it right. So I’d certainly talk to people with $$$ right now but I don’t expect to take funding for some time. It could certainly accelerate our time to market and that is intriguing but this one is a long term business. Its not a flip the company thing. Q: Is it “Web 2.0″? A: I’m so tired of that term. I’d actually describe this one as “Web 1.0 but done right” since the target user isn’t the digerati. We’ll certainly market to bloggers initially since they are today’s alpha geek and the test bed but we’ll make our money with “Ma and Pa Kettle”. This one is something that I hope even my Mom will use***. Q: Can you tell me any more? A: Well Reg was talking to me about his idea for a startup yesterday so I leaked a little bit to him over here. Check it out. Q: Thank you Scott for your feedback. A: No thank you (after all this was Me interviewing Me). *Yeah I’m generally the idea guy. **root means “has master access to all your systems and can do anything”. Its geeky but its a big deal. ***Mother Johnson is a wonderful, wonderful woman but, alas, my ventures are usually far too geeky for her tastes. […]
