What is readio? Readio converts RSS-feeds to MP3 files, which can be subscribed as podcasts in your favourite podcatching client. So anyone blogging can have a podcast.

[…] While podcasts are still gaining momentum, talking into a microphone is not everybodys cup of tea. I for example, feel a lot more comfortable typing on a keyboard, especially if in a foreign language (my native tongue is German). Seems like sometime soon, people like me will have the opportunity to have a podcast too with read.io, a service that automagically turns RSS Feeds into podcasts. While read.io is currently in private alpha and not yet available for the general public, one can listen to a demonstration at NonFiction. Looks like their text to speach still needs improvement, it doesn’t really sound that good. [via Web 2.0 Central] Technorati Tags: read.io podcasting blogging   [link] […]

[…]Ever wanted to do a Podcast, but don’t like to speak into a microphone? Or maybe you just don’t have the time? Well, things are starting to look up.

The people over at Readio have created a service that will convert your blog into a Podcast. It woks by using speech synthesis… the voices are still not perfect, but they are getting better. Soon, you’ll be able to point Readio at your blog and end up with a Podcast that you can put on your sidebar, or on iTunes, or various other places PodCasts hang out.

How cool would it be to have people “reading” your blog on the drive to work?

The service is currently in a Private Beta, but you can hear a few samples at NonFiction.

Hmm… seems to me that someone with a little expertise could just point one of those text reader programs at their blog entry, record it, then generate a Podcast from it. That might suffice until Readio comes online – their service promises to be much quicker to use.
